On the north of Yangtze River lies a beautiful gardenlike school, Jianli No.1 Senior Middle School. The school is nearby the Sui-Yue Speedway which is connected with Guangzhou City, the southern gate of China, with the capital of Beijing in the north. From here it is very convenient to travel nationwide. There is a big lake named Honghu Lake within 10 kilometers away from the school, which is a part of famous Dongting Lake. Many places of interest are around the area, such as, Yueyang Pavilion in Yueyang City, Yellow Crane Tower and Guiyuan Temple in Wuhan City, Jingzhou Ancient Town, Lifelong Tower in Shashi City. The neighbor county has a famous natural park where live many Milu deer in wild. Jianli No.1 Senior Middle School, which was founded by the government in 1941, is a key middle school of Jianli. In the 1950s, it was one of the first 34 key middle schools in Hubei Province and it is responsible to enroll the students from Jianli county, Shishou county and Honghu county. In 1978 it was named key middle school in Hubei Province again. Jianli No.1 Middle School is the only key middle school in Jianli county. In August 1999, the government of Jianli county decided to move it to a new place, and name it ¡°Jianli No.1 Senior Middle School¡±. Now there are 43 classes with 2680 students and more than 200 teachers.

During the last thirty years, the school has kept on improving the conditions and quality of teaching, trying to make creative ideas and making good reputation in society, especially after the school had moved to the new site, great progress has been made in the school. In the past 3 years, it has gained many titles, such as: garden style school, the advanced group in Jingzhou city, the security and civilized unit in Hubei Province.
